Hurricane Ida made landfall on the Louisiana gulf coast August 29, 2021 as a Category 4 major hurricane leaving devastation in her path.
Here locally on the Alabama Gulf Coast we were fortunate to have only experienced some tropical storm force winds and plenty of rain but no widespread damage or power outages.
In conjunction with many local organizations including Comeback Coolers, Sail Atlas Charters was able to contribute to Louisiana relief efforts. We continue to send our thoughts and prayers to our gulf coast neighbors to the west as they navigate these difficult times.
Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30. NOAA predicts another active season in 2021 with 13-20 named storms, 6-10 hurricanes, and 3-5 major hurricanes. The last hurricane to hit the Orange Beach/Gulf Shores area was Hurricane Sally in 2020 as a category 2 hurricane.
